Description

We are offering a new event this year: a single day XC mountain bike stage race. Each of our trail networks will have a XC race stage on nearly 100% single track with chipped timing.  Win a stage or win the overall GC with lowest combined time. There will be enduro segments as well for good measure. Food and beverage by Ranch Camp included in registration fee. All proceeds go to building and maintaining the local trails. Get your legs race ready for the Overland the following weekend. Course will be approximately 38 miles total with 5000’ of climbing. You must ride your bike between trail networks (transfers) on open public roads. The transfers will be untimed. Camping at S6 will be available the night before the race.

Thank you!

Matt Stout,  President,  Woodstock Area Mountain Bike Association

Introducing the Woodstock Triple Crown Throwdown, a fundraiser to support the Woodstock Area Mountain Bike Association (WAMBA)! This event is truly one-of-a-kind, featuring some of the best riding in Vermont! You may be familiar with our annual Triple Crown Challenge, but we are taking it to the next level this year with a Cross-Country and Enduro stage race. The Triple Crown Throwdown is an unparalleled adventure to support our amazing trails and to test your endurance. One day, three networks, three XC “Superstages”, three Enduro “Substages,” food and drink included, and all-day stoke and good times. All Triple Crown Throwdown proceeds will fund ongoing trailwork and future projects at WAMBA.

Racers will start in waves from Saskadena 6 in the morning. They will begin by riding from Saskadena 6 to downtown Woodstock and arrive at the beginning of the first XC Superstage.

“Superstages” are normal XC stages that are timed from start to finish. These stages will be point-to-point at Mt. Peg and The Aqueduct, and 2 laps to finish at Saskadena 6.

“Substages” are embedded enduro segments within each “Superstage.” The substages will be marked, and riders are expected NOT to stop at the beginning or end of the Enduro segments. If you need to stop for any reason, please move completely off the trails.

After each Superstage, racers will follow a predetermined untimed transfer on public roads to the next venue/Superstage. Please follow all rules of the road!

Schedule

First wave start: 9:00 am

Food begins: TBD ~ 12 pm

Course closes: 5:00 pm

Aid Stations & Handoffs

This is a semi-self-supported race. We will have a sag table with some water and snacks at the end of stage 1, but please do not plan to rely on this aid solely. This is a big day, and we recommend that you pack some snacks and hydration of your own.

If you want to have someone give you handoffs, you may, and it is allowed anywhere.

Awards

Podiums will be determined by the combined times of open class results for the XC Superstages. There will be a separate podium for the combined times for the open class enduro substages. And yes, you can with both if you are that fast! Individual stage results will be posted for both XC and enduro. Age group results will be posted as well (Junior (18 & under), 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+).

Podiums:

Top 3 Racers in all open categories. No age group podiums (except for Junior).

Camping

Camping is available online and in person (cash only). Camping is charged per car, and RVs and tents are both welcome. There are no hookups. Bathrooms will be on site.
