E-Bike Charging Station Project

Lebanon Recreation, Arts, and Parks

A generous $3,000 donation from AARP New Hampshire will help build the Upper Valley's first electric bicycle charging station in downtown Lebanon, close to the Mascoma River Greenway and the Northern Rail Trail. The next closest e-bike station is 26 miles away in Danbury, New Hampshire.

The E-Bike Project is coordinated by the Lebanon Energy Advisory Committee and sponsored by the Friends of Lebanon Recreation, Arts, and Parks. The AARP New Hampshire donation will fund the key ingredients of the three-season charging station – solar panels, struts for the panels, and a power station to deliver electricity from the panels to outlets where e-bike riders can plug in their charge cords.

Charging at the station will be free to the public and powered by the sun. This will especially benefit riders who cannot afford a car or who do not have access to charging at home. Want to help? Donate to the E-Bike Project to finish the site design and purchase materials for a shelter above the bikes. No city funds are being used for the E-Bike Project.

Bicycling is affordable, healthy, and fun, but it gets harder with age. E-bikes help people cycle longer and happier. Nationally, almost 90% of e-bike riders are 45 years or older. Nearly 40% of Lebanon residents are ages 50 and up. E-bikes are a great fit for helping Lebanon's residents and visitors get around our city.

To contribute to helping finish the station, visit the E-Bike Project website. Once this prototype station is complete, the E-Bike Project may consider building additional stations in West Lebanon or other parts of the Upper Valley.
