The Wednesday Night Ride is a spirited group ride and forms the core of the weekly rides by the UVCC.
The ride information is published to the Upper Valley Velo mailing list on the Monday preceding the weekly ride. Generally the ride starts at 5:30PM but instructions on road conditions and the finer points of the route are discussed before the starting time, so arrive early!
The ride is divided into groups which vary in skill and pace. Riders are required to self select their group according to their own abilities.
Weather cancelation policy: At 4pm on Wednesday if the weather.com forecast for Hanover has a 50% or greater chance of thunderstorms the ride is canceled.
E-bike policy - E-bikes are not allowed on the A ride. E-bikes are welcome in the B+, B and C rides, however we ask that e-bikes not set the pace at the front of the group unless asked to do so.
WNR A - The A ride is all out, averaging 20mph+ (with elevation) and is a drop ride. A sample of some A routes.
WNR B - This group is subdivided into three, B, B- and B+. Here are some B routes.
The B+ ride is fast, averaging around 17-19mph (with elevation) and is a drop ride. The B+ will attempt to keep a group together to have a paceline on flat sections so may do a regroup at a spot or two on the route, but will not wait long.
The B ride is quick, averaging 16-18mph (with elevation). The B group has experienced cyclists in the group who want a workout, but are willing to take riders new to the WNR.
The B- ride is faster than the C ride but slower than B’s and will regroup but not wait long. This group will typically ride the A/B route but may choose to take shortcuts or ride the C route depending on the group and the ride options.
WNR C - The C ride is a no drop ride and will aim at averaging 13-15mph. This is a great place for people new to group rides to learn the ropes. Here are the C routes.
