The goal of the Upper Valley Women's Cycling Club is simply to get more women out on bikes, and to help to give them the skills they need to feel confident and comfortable!
We hold weekly social rides Tuesday evenings at 5:30 PM. They leave from departure points all over the Upper Valley, so as to get women on as many new roads as possible. We have a mandatory regroup point half-way through the route, and will have a guide at all times with the end of the group, so nobody will ever ride by herself.
We’re not a racing group, so our routes are usually planned at <25 miles and not super hilly, but we are constrained by daylight. So, the expectation is that anyone that attends could reasonably complete the route in less than 2 hours.
The club maintains ride insurance and operating costs through an annual membership. Please register prior to joining an organized event. There is a $5 membership fee, or a $50 sustaining member option.
Checklist for joining a weekly ride:
- You are a current UVCC Member, register at BikeReg.
- Bring along a spare tube that fits your tire and, at least, a blinky light for visibility
- Download the route to a device or phone, and be familiar with it and the mandatory regroup point.
- Arrive no later than 5:20 PM, so we can be rolling out promptly at 5:30 PM.
The ride details with the location, route, and ride leaders are posted to the Upper Valley Velo mailing list on the Sunday or Monday preceding the weekly ride.
Additional UVWCC resources:
We encourage women to use these resources to find friends for their other rides throughout the week. Suggested information to include in a post would be date/time, route or length of ride, and desired pace.
