TACO TUESDAY! From Quechee Gorge Visitor's Center

A new departure spot for the UVWCC, so we can nab TACOS afterwards at TrailBreak (open until 8:30 pm). This also allows us to venture onto some rarely ridden roads for the UVWCC, such as Happy Valley to Hartland Hill Rd, a gem climb (dirt) from the Taftsville covered bridge. After hitting Four Corners, we then climb the humps and bumps back on (paved) Quechee-Hartland Rd.

Mandatory Regroup: Mile 9.7 (top of climb on Hartland Hill). This route crosses Rt 4 twice. In both cases, riders are expected to come to a FULL STOP and wait for others to group up before crossing with a safe margin in both directions.

A note on expected pace: We want to keep the group ride open to as wide of a variety of riders as possible. However, with many of these being new roads for most (and knowing we've had some members take wrong turns by accident!), we also need to have a group that is cohesive enough that the two ride leaders can keep eyes on most of the group at all times. For that reason, the expectation is that riders should be able to complete that week's route at an average of at least 14 mph. Those who set out but are unable to hold this pace may be asked to turn back or ride on their own, for the safety of the entire group.
