Description

Climb out of SoRo on Oxbow, then a gradual climb up Broad Brook to East Barnard.  The big Allen Hill climb with a steep bit right at the top.  Up Skyline and down Webster Hill to a paved descent on the Pomfret road to South Pomfret.  Five miles of pavement to Abacadabra coffee on Wayside road.  Up Wayside and the connecting roads to 12, and then South Perry which becomes a Class 4.  Off Perry onto Stage which bacomes the long Royalton Turnpike descent, and Back River and North Windsor bring us back to South Royalton.  Refuel at the Worthy Burger!

Ames - Downer

Description

Up the Bragg Hill -Beaver Meadow climb to warm up. Then Downer, the camp class 4, and up Cross to Brook.  Down Ames(has some bumpy bits) and into South Strafford, then up Downer Forest to the State Forest roller-coaster down.  Beaver Meadow back to the start.

Pomfret-Barnard w/Class IV

Description

This route is marked by long steady climbs on some lesser-traveled roads for SMGR.  Starting out in West Hartford, the route crosses the White River and begins the first long climb up Pomfret Road and Allen Hill Road, then descends into East Barnard.  Up East Barnard Road to Royalton Turnpike, then a turn onto North Perry Road into the first Class IV road (variable gravel, some adventurous terrain in the middle, with a ledgy descent) to South Perry Road.  From there, the route turns left onto Route 12 then the next left onto Lakota Road to climb Schoolhouse Hill.

New Boston - Alger - Kerwin -Bradley

Description

All the way up New Boston to South Strafford.  The big climb up Alger Brook, then to Miller Pond and the long Sawnee Bean descent.  Buzzell Bridge to the dam, then Kerwin Hill to the Class 4 to the Bradley Hill singletrack trail.  Pop out on Union Village and swoop back into town.

Plainfield-Saint Gaudens #3 w/ Black Hill

We'll head up Colby Hill and Ladieu to Porter and the Black Hill Class 4 to Old County.  A bit of pavement, then Stage to Spencer to Hell Hollow.  Swoop down to 12A and back up the Saint-Gaudens road to the top of Dingleton Hill.  Down to Root Hill, Tandy Brook, and jackson, then back up East, Burr, and Camp to the start.

Sharon - Potash - Spring

Description

Up Rt. 14 for 1 1/2 miles to White Brook and a farm trail(short hike for most) to Whitney and Dairy Hill.  Potash Hill to downtown Tunbridge, and a short leg up 110 to Monarch. Monarch climb, down Spring, and back up out of the valley on Belknap Brook.  Potash Hill, Gilley, Robinson, and the Fay Brook descent back to the start.

Both rides start up the Quechee-West Hartford road.  (No grumbling -- a climbing start means a descending finish. :-)  )  Then onto the rollercoaster that is Joe Ranger, Bunker Hill, Old Kings Highway, and Cloudland.  Drop down Barber Hill to the Pomfret road, refuel at the Teago store, and continue down Stage.  Up the long Wild Apple climb to Skyline. Down Skyline and descend the west side of Allen Hill, then Broad Brook to River road to Sharon.   Rt 14 to Quimby to Mitchell Brook, then down Tigertown to Rt 14 and the start.

Brownsville - Marton

A short flat warmup, then the East Rowe Hill Class 4 to the long rolling climb up Rush Meadow.  Swoop down Reeeves, up Silver Hill and down Cowshed to a great view of the mountain.  Across to the short steep pitches on Coon Club, then Marton to Weeden Hill to Hammond Hill.  Morrison, Moeller, Best to Jenneville, then one last steep climb up Blood Hill.  Across to Bible Hill for another great mountain view, and back to the start.

Up Bragg and Beaver Meadow and Downer across to South Strafford.  Up the Justin Morrill to Strafford, where we'll stop to grab a snack at the Occasional Rooster. Fortified, we'll climb the ugly pavement on Brook, and then enjoy the long Fay Brook descent.  A short leg on Rt. 14, then Quimby Mt. to Mitchell Brook to Beaver Meadow and back to the start
