Gravel

Classic UV gravel featuring some class IV adventure.

Gravel loop beginning at Oak Hill with some light adventure.

This route is marked by long steady climbs on some lesser-traveled roads for SMGR.  Starting out in West Hartford, the route crosses the White River and begins the first long climb up Pomfret Road and Allen Hill Road, then descends into East Barnard.  Up East Barnard Road to Royalton Turnpike, then a turn onto North Perry Road into the first Class IV road (variable gravel, some adventurous terrain in the middle, with a ledgy descent) to South Perry Road.  From there, the route turns left onto Route 12 then the next left onto Lakota Road to climb Schoolhouse Hill.

One or two short pave sections.

This is the sister route to SMGR 9/20 Enfield to Ruggles https://www.strava.com/routes/3403737678999752258 without any class VI. Meant for those looking for a calmer alternative, but still enjoy the beautiful gravel between Enfield and Canaan!

We'll head up Bragg Hill and drop down to Beaver Meadow.  Over the top, then down to Downer and across to South Stafford.  Back to Norwich on Mine -> New Boston.

If folks are interested we can make short side trips on Cossingham, Ladue or the Downer Camp class 4 to see those connections.

Some short adventure sections and mostly gravel roads.  Water/food in W. Fairlee if needed.
