WNR C

The routes for the WNR C group. More moderate routes than the A or B routes. Shorter and with less climbing and shorter gravel sections. The aim is to start these routes at 5:30pm and complete them before sunset at a moderate pace (14 to 16mph).

Union Village - Dam - Rt 5

Summary

A short road route starting at Huntley Meadows. We turn right to exit the parking lot and turn left to climb Union Village. 4 miles later turn left on Rt 132 then a right turn on Academy. In Union Village turn left before the covered bridge to climb up to the dam. Go over the dam and through the gate on the right to descend back down to Academy and the covered bridge. Continue until you reach Rt 132 and turn left. This meets Rt 5, turn right and head back to Norwich.

Oak Hill - Rennie - Greensboro

A short all road route. Starting at Oak Hill, we turn right towards Rt 10 where we turn right, skip past Old Lyme Rd for once, turn right onto Goose Pond, right onto Rennie, skip past Dogford, descend Hanover Center, turn right onto Greensboro, right onto Rt 120, right onto East Wheelock and FINALLY turn left onto Rip to head back to Oak Hill.

Jericho and Jericho

A short section of gravel on what is mostly a road ride. We head south from Huntley Meadows along Rt 5 and then Christian St. A short distance along Rt 14, we turn right for the climb up Jericho Rd. At the top, we turn left and admire the view before turning round for a long descent of Jericho St to return us to Rt 5, where we turn left. Another left turn at Hopson before a left on Beaver Meadow to return to Huntley Meadows.

UVWCC: Quechee Taco Loop

It’s taco Tuesday this week! We will meet at the Quechee visitor center on Route 4. The route takes us through Quechee, over the Quechee-West Hartford Road to 14, and back Old River Rd to the start. Hopefully you can join us after the ride for some Mexican food at Trailbreak, across the road from the visitor’s center.

Oak Hill - Stevens - Hardy Hill

A climby route with a short section of uphill gravel on Reservoir. The major climbs are Grasse, Stevens and then a longer climb on Hardy Hill and Laramie. The reward is a long descent from the junction with King to the covered bridge. The return is via Heater Rd, Great Hollow and Greensboro.

Oak Hill - Five and Dime

Simple all road route. Leaving from Oak Hill turn right on reservoir. Around the roundabout to take the bike path into Hanover. Turn right on Maynard. Left on North Main Street and then right on Tuck Mall. Ignore the no entry signs to turn right onto Tuck Drive. Descend the hill carefully, avoiding oncoming traffic and trash in the "bike lane". Turn right to cross the bridge and right onto River Rd. Merge with Rt 5 and settle into 9 miles of paceline. We detour via Pavillion to regroup. Turn right over the Connecticut on East Thetford. At the top of the long hill we turn right onto Lyme Rd to head back to the start.
